Friday Favourites.

Favourite Song Of The Week:
Rebel Grrrl - Bikini Kill.
Listening to this punk rock, riot grrrl anthem takes me right back to the days when I spend my time sewing Bikini Kill patches onto all my clothes hoping I would grow up to be just like Kathleen Hanna without a care in the world.
Those were the days eh?

Favourite Album Of The Week:
Appetite For Destruction - Guns N' Roses.
To my utter horror, despair, and dismay I seem to have lost an enormous bag of all my favourite cds - to cut a long and boring story short, I basically pulled a load of cds out of my car and haven't got a freaking clue where I left them, and considering my house ain't much bigger than a cardboard box I'm both pissed off and puzzled at the whole situation, so anyway I just thought fuck it and I went and bought three of my favourite albums in the world: Appetite, Pinkerton, and Iowa. I've been dining out on Appetite all week, and I fucking love it. I wrote a bit about it HERE which sums up why it's so perfect, and vital. Get involved.

Favourite Video Of The Week:
These Colours Don't Run - Architects.
The Brighton boys released their first single, and video from upcoming fifth studio album 'Daybreaker' and as you can tell it's set to be a right little cracker. They seem to be following the trend (and, this is one trend everyone should be getting behind) of tackling important social, and political issues with their lyrics, and going back to their heavy roots. Love it.

Favourite Lyrics Of The Week:
"You could slit my throat, and with my one last gasping breath I'd apologise for bleeding on your shirt"
If you recognised that little beauty from 'You're So Last Summer' by Taking Back Sunday then you're right and we're soulmates. Gah.

Favourite Photo Of The Week:

When I saw this on tumblr I gasped, and I want it on my bedroom wall now. I love Courtney Love. She's insanely beautiful, and the colour in this is insane and looks exactly like what's going on in my head 98% of the time! Duh.

Happy Weekend everyone! xo

Friday Favourites

Favourite Song of The Week:
Dude Looks Like A Lady - Aerosmith.
If there was ever a song more perfect for dancing around the lounge in your pajamas, this is it! Old school classic rock and roll: winning.

Favourite Album of The Week:
United By Fate - Rival Schools.
One of the most underrated bands of all time? Yes. One of the first, maybe the first, punk supergroups whose first album is impressive regardless of your preferred music tastes, but a pretty vital addition to your collection if you're a hardcore-punk enthusiast. Plus, if you're band is made up of members from Punk heroes such as Gorilla Biscuits, CIV, Youth of Today, and Iceburn, you can't go wrong can you?

Favourite Video of The Week:
Arguing With Thermometers - Enter Shikari.
For no other reason than that Rou Reynolds looks Hot (capital H) with a 'tache - okay who am I kidding? It's just a sick vid, with a sick message behind it.

Favourite Day of Reading Fest:
Sunday, duh.
Yes, yes I already knew Foos & The Cure were headlining, BUT I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw that my beloved Bullet For My Valentine were to be destroying the main stage come Sunday 26th - I will happily be crushed against the barrier for that one. And as if that's not good enough, Eagles Of Death Metal are gracing us with their presence too? Jeez, who needs birthdays eh? Party on!!

Favourite Matt Tuck Photo of The Week:
Come on, it'd be rude not to!..

Happy Friday! xo

Friday Favourites

Favourite Song of the Week:
Stupid Kid - Alkaline Trio.
Cut to me singing this song to my friend in the pub on monday - she hadn't heard of it before, so it seemed only the fair thing to do that I should perform my very best rendition of it (complete with appropriate air-guitar). Got a free drink out of it, so it's all good.
There's not much I don't love about this song, catchy hooks, punchy bassline, clever lyrics, cool video... Total rocker!

Favourite Album of the Week:
The Poison - Bullet For My Valentine.
When it comes to sheer, snarling agrresion, and heavy metal it doesn't come much better than this - no, really it doesn't. There's not a single song on this album that isn't worthy of face-melting, spine-shattering credentials. I also think 'Tear's Don't Fall' is one of the greatest metal anthems of all time - and no, it's not just because the very sight of Matt Tuck in the rain gives me chills.

Favourite Video of the Week:
I think we all know where this is going... Well, come on it'd be rude not to!

Favourite Matt Tuck picture of the Week:
There seems to be a theme developing here, and I'm not about to go against it. So here you go, you're all welcome.

UGH.

Favourite Guitar Solo of the Week:
Angus Young - Live at River Plate, Buenos Aires, 2009.

This isn't so much a guitar solo as a guitar spectacle/masterclass. Do yourself a favour, and watch this in it's glorious entirety. The crowd are lapping it up - lucky bastards!

Friday Favourites

Favourite (new) Song of the week:
Somebody that I used to know - Gotye. I cannot stress enough how BEAUTIFUL, and magnificently perfect this song is so if for some totally unacceptable reason you haven't heard it yet quickly get to it and I promise you that you'll fall in love instantly. If not, you're beyond help now. :-p

Favourite (old) Song of the week:
Do It for me now - Angels & Airwaves. Gah, I'm a teeny bit obsessed with this band. They're just so fantastically cheery, and romantic that it makes me wanna skip through a field of freshly blossomed dandelions in a floral dress... ha! Oh, and Tom Delonge just happens to be the lead singer so, um, yeah!

Favourite (new) Album of the week:
A Flash Flood Of Colour - Enter Shikari. Yes, I'm still obsessing over this little wonder. It's so, so good and each time I listen to it I discover something new and even more incredible that the last time. A Big Fat Chunk of Musical Awesomeness.

Favourite (old) Album of the week:
The Platinum Collection - David Bowie. Yep, I know that's totally cheating but whatever! My mum bought it the other day, I've stolen it and haven't stopped listening to it since. What a genius lyricist. What a gorgeous human. Bowie Forever.

Favourite Video of the week:
Waking The Demon - Bullet For My Valentine. Two reasons: one, it's fucking cool and two, Matt Tuck rocking that long, black, sleek hair is the closest thing to heaven I'll probably ever know. Also, that guitar solo from Padge is ridiculous! There is a god, and he likes guitar solos.
