Tupac Shakur Hologram @ Coachella 2012.

Unless you've done an 'into the wild' and turned your back on society leaving all your possessions and first world luxuries behind you I'm sure you would have been exposed to the Tupac Shakur 'hologram' performing alongside Snoop and Dre at this years Coachella Festival over the past week.

For those of us not lucky enough to be partying with the festival crowd over in Cali and experiencing the hologram in the, erm, flesh (computer technology, ahem), we've probably all got acquainted via our good old friend the internet....

It seems to have split opinion with some saying it's the greatest thing since Axl Rose strutting about in a pair of tiny denim shorts, a smile and not much else whilst others are saying it was more uncomfortable and terrifying than when Axl Rose debuted those cornrows (yikes!) But this isn't about everyone's favourite loud-mouth Axl Rose, no this is about 2Pac.

With technology advancing so rapidly these days it was only a matter of time before techno-geeks all over the world started resurrecting musical heroes from days gone by BUT is that really what we all want? Do we want to see, say, Elvis Presley performing in front of our eyes via CGI? Bearing in mind Wiz Khalifa (who performed on stage with '2Pac') said himself 'it was kinda creepy and it freaked me out'.

Do I think the future of the music industry will be heavily involved with hologram technology? Yes. Come on we all know where this is leading, especially considering the company responsible for creating the hologram Digital Domain Media Group Inc. have seen a 48% rise in shares immediately after showcasing the latest technology. If that ain't a sign of things to come then I don't know what is...

Do I want the future of the music industry to be heavily involved with hologram technology? No. It made for quite uncomfortable viewing and the chances of it being trotted out all over the globe as some kind of sob story novelty are pretty high!

What do you think? Are you fan of hologram technology? Who would you like to see resurrected via hologram, if any?
