Songs that changed my life.

No I'm not being dramatically, and wonderfully, cheesy - I'm just jumping on the bandwagon of twitter's latest hashtag (#songthatchangedmylife). Perfect. To be honest, no song has ever changed my life - I've never heard a song and soon after began living a different life, but there have been a few that have had an impact on me, and maybe even lead me in the right direction.
So here they are...

All Apologies - Nirvana.
The immortal lyrics, "I wish I was like you; easily amused" sums up everything I admire about my musical hero, Kurt Cobain. This song captures a raw, intense passion that Nirvana can evoke in a subtle and understated way.

No Apologies - Eminem.
This song encapsulates my relationship with Mr Mathers in a nutshell. I listen to it when I'm angry, sad or frustrated and it never fails to inspire me to get the fuck up and keep kickin ass. It's not that it's my favourite song, or a particularly catchy well written one but the honesty, and emotional depth of the lyrics connects with me each time. Gorgeous.

Sing For The Moment - Eminem.
Slim just showin' us all what a poetic genius he really is - "In the land of the killers, a sinner's mind is a sanctum".

Juggernauts - Enter Shikari.
Yeah the songs good, but the lyrics are better. Social commentary at it's finest, and most brutally honest. This band, and in particular, this song shook things up for me big time when I first heard it and it provided me with absolute lucidity.

The Kill - 30 Seconds To Mars.
This was my 15 year old self's anthem, and my most played song on iTunes (pretty sure that's cos I don't use iTunes anymore though but hey).

November Rain - Guns N' Roses.
For no other reason that it is my favourite song of all time. Heartbreakingly perfect in every way.

Stairway to Heaven - Led Zeppelin.
I could pretty much have picked anyone of Zeppelin's songs, but this takes the gold for being one of the most beautiful and moving songs my ears have ever had the pleasure of hearing. This is songwriting at it's most powerful genius.

If I sat here all night, and really thought about this there are a hundred other songs I could include on this list but these were the first ones to spring to mind, and you know 'go with your first instincts' and all that...
