I wish I was like you; easily amused.

I wanna take some time out to talk about my favourite band - Nirvana. The truth is (I'm ashamed to say) I hardly ever listen to them. Of course, I know almost every word to every song they ever recorded but weeks can go by without me hearing so much as a verse of Nevermind or In Utero.
When I do take the time to listen to them, it can get a little outta hand - all day spent soaking up those weird and wonderful lyrics. Thing is, I'm not sure what it is about Nirvana that makes them so special to me - I can't actually answer that question (much to the annoyance of me and others) but all I know is when I listen to them I feel like I'm falling in love (what I think that would feel like anyway!) and there ain't another band on this earth that makes me feel that way!
Kurt Cobain described his songs (and songwriting) as 'musical freedom' -  he stands up for what he believes in in the most beautiful way he knows how - you only have to listen All Apologies to realize that.
Nirvana are like my favourite pair of old shoes - they're my most cherished pair of converse that when I throw on em they just feel right, they're comfortable & go with everything, I know I can rely on them - I don't wear them everyday, not even on special occasions, but when I stumble across them the biggest smile spreads across my face because I know it's time for us to get reacquainted.
One thing I am sure of (and there's not many of those) is that I'll carry Nirvana with me everywhere I ever go, no matter how old, how gray, how happy, how sad I am/become they will always be there singing me through it all.
For whatever reason (probably this gloomy weather) I'm feeling pretty down tonight, so I guess it's time for me to, slip into my favourite shoes - go indulge in some of my most beloved music in the world and kick this negativity right outta me.
