27.

My heart feels heavy tonight.
I noticed immediately after the announcement of the tragic death of Amy Winehouse, who was one of the greatest talents of our generation, there was an influx of, frankly, unfunny and insensitive jokes posted on twitter and facebook - I for one find nothing less amusing than jokes about death; there is nothing as heartbreaking, gut wrenching or soul destroying as death - particularly when it comes as a shock and I will never understand how people can be capable of using their words in such a hurtful and malicious manner at such a fragile time. Of course, it has been widely publicized that Amy battled a drug and drink addiction and it is clear that this played a significant role in her untimely demise - I can only hope she is finally at peace, wherever she may be.
At only 27 years of age, Amy joins a tragic list of music legends whose lives ended at the same age - Jimi Hendrix, Bruce Jones, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison and of course, Kurt Cobain. I don't read anything into this other than a unfortunate coincidence but nevertheless it is a painful reminder of a few of the talents this world is being deprived of.

My prayers and thoughts are with the families, friends and anyone affected by the abhorrent situation in Norway - I have no words.
